Fibe TV app on Android TV

What is the Fibe TV app on Android TV and what do I need to use it?

The Fibe TV app is available for certain Android TV devices, giving you access to your favourite Fibe TV content. The following Android TV devices are supported:

  • Sony Android TV
  • nVIDIA Shield
  • Xiaomi Mi Box

Requirements:

  • Fibe TV service with a PVR
  • An Android TV device. Learn more.
  • MyAccount registration. Not registered for MyAccount? Learn how.
  • Internet speed of 15 Mbps or higher is recommended
  • Google Play account. Set one up.

You can watch live Fibe TV content on an Android TV device only from your home. If you try to watch live Fibe TV content when away from home, you will get an error message even if you're logged in to MyAccount on the Android TV device.

Setting up an Android TV device and the Fibe TV app for the first time

Step 1 - Setting up an Android TV device

If you haven't already set up your Android TV device, follow the manufacturer instructions on how to complete the installation. Make sure you're connected to the home Wi-Fi of your unlimited Bell Internet service.

Step 2 - Installing the Fibe TV app on your Android TV device

  1. Using your Android TV remote, navigate to the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for the "Fibe TV App" and then select Install.
  3. The Fibe TV app will now appear on the home screen of your Android TV device, under the My Apps section. Launch it.
  4. Sign in using your MyAccount username and password. Not registered for MyAccount? Learn how.

Navigate the different sections of the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Home displays featured content.
  2. Guide displays the programming guide.
  3. Shows displays On Demand shows.
  4. Movies displays On Demand movies.
  5. Recordings displays shows you recorded and those that are scheduled to be.
  6. My watchlist allows you to find saved shows, movies and downloads easily.
  7. Settings allow you to manage everything from favourites to devices.
Move forward and backward in a show with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. You can skip forward or backward:
    • Click the fast forward button to skip forward 30 seconds
    • Click the rewind button to skip backward 7 seconds
  2. You can also click the left and right navigation buttons to move backward and forward in the video.
Browse the Movies or Shows sections with the Fibe TV app on a TV

The Movies and Shows sections contain on-demand content that is part of your subscriptions, as well as content that can be rented or purchased.

Select a shortcut at the top of the Movies or Shows sections to easily navigate to different categories.

  • To view Channels, select the shortcut or scroll to the bottom of the section. 
  • Within the Movies section, select the Rentals shortcut to rent or purchase available content.
Filter the guide in the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select Guide Filters.
  3. Select the desired filters. The checkmark indicates which filters have been applied.
  4. Press the back button until you return to the main screen.
Create, modify or view your favourites list with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Filters section.
  3. Select Manage Favourites.
  4. Scroll down and select the channels you want to set as favourites.
  5. The channels have been set as favourites when you see a heart icon at the top left corner.
  6. To remove a channel that has already been set as a favourite, select the channel again. This removes the heart icon.
Use the My watchlist feature to watch content later
  1. From the Home, Movies or Shows sections, select the show or movie you want to add to my watchlist.
  2. Select ADD TO MY WATCHLIST to add it.
  3. To remove it, select REMOVE FROM MY WATCHLIST.
  4. To view your list, scroll to the My watchlist section.

  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Select the search box with the remote to bring up the keyboard.
  3. Select a letter on the keyboard and then click it. The search results will appear as you type.
  4. Select the Back button to hide the keyboard.
  5. Select the desired show from the list.
Turn on closed captioning and described video with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Accessibility section.
  3. Select either Closed Captions or Descriptive Video to apply the desired setting.
  4. To remove the setting, select Closed Captions or Descriptive Video again.
Manage your devices with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the My Account section.
  3. Select Manage Devices.
  4. Select the device to remove.
  5. Enter your password to confirm and select Delete Device.
Set a PIN for the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Parental Controls section.
  3. Select Set PIN.
  4. Enter your password and select Modify.
  5. Enter your desired PIN.
  6. Press the back button until you return to the main screen.
Set the video streaming quality with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the My Account section.
  3. Select Streaming.
  4. Select the desired streaming quality.
Use parental controls with the Fibe TV app on Android TV
  1. Navigate to the main menu and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Parental Controls section.
  3. Select either Canadian Classifications or Parental Advisories.
  4. Select the rating(s) that you want to block.
  5. Enter your password and select Modify.
  6. A checkmark indicates which ratings are blocked.
  7. Press the back button until you return to the main screen.
Troubleshooting the Fibe TV app on an Android TV device

The steps below can help you when you experience the following issues:

  • Cannot watch live content
  • App is frozen or not working

  1. First, ensure that your Android TV device is connected to your Wi-Fi and that your Wi-Fi is working. If you are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi, restart your modem to see if it resolves the issue.
  2. If the issue persists, then restart your Android TV device.

Internet speeds of 15 Mbps or higher is recommended.
