Fibe TV App And How To Use It

What is the Fibe TV app?

The Fibe TV app allows Fibe customers to enjoy live TV and on-demand content at home and on the go. Watch content on your smartphone, tablet, computer, Apple TV, AirPlay-enabled TVs, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition (or higher) and Chromecast.

As a Fibe TV subscriber, you have access to up to 295 Live & on demand channels on the Fibe TV app while connected to your home Bell MTS Wi-Fi. Watch content on your smartphone, tablet, computer, Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition, Android TV, Apple TV (4th generation), AirPlay-enabled TVs and Chromecast.

Installing the app

The Fibe TV app is free to download and is available for Bell MTS Fibe TV customers.

Supported devices:

  • Android smartphones and tablets (OS 5.0+)
  • Apple smartphones and tablets (OS 12.0+)
  • Apple TV, 4th generation or higher
  • AirPlay on Apple TV and AirPlay-enabled TVs
  • All versions of Chromecast™
  • Android TV: Sony Android TV, nVIDIA Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition or higher
  • Computer: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari* browsers by visiting fibetv.ca

* In order to access all of your Fibe TV app content and features, please unselect "Hide IP address" in your Safari Privacy preferences and/or disable iCloud Private Relay for Safari or use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Firefox browsers.

Requirements

  • Fibe TV service
  • My Account registration
  • Internet speed of 25 Mbps or higher is recommended
  • For Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition (or higher) and Chromecast, you can watch on-demand content on TV devices with any Internet connection

Once the app is installed, log in using your My Account username and password.

Note: the Fibe TV app cannot be operated on a device that has been tampered with (i.e., rooting or jailbreaking). The app does not support screen mirroring and screen casting from smartphones and tablets.

Android smartphones and tablets (OS 5.0 and higher) with a Google Play account. Set one up.

All generations of Chromecast™ are supported. For the best experience, use generation 2 or higher.

Locate the Fibe TV app in the App Store and sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Setting up Apple TV

If you haven't already set up your Apple TV, follow the instructions on how to complete the installation.

Ensure your Apple TV software is up to date. Learn how.

Make sure you're at home, and connected to the Internet account that is on the same bill as your TV service.

 

Installing the Fibe TV app on your Apple TV device

  1. Using your Apple TV remote, navigate to the App Store.
  2. Search for the "Fibe TV app" and then select Install (on 4th generation Apple TV or higher).
  3. The Fibe TV app will now appear on the home screen of your Apple TV. Launch it.
  4. Sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Locate the Fibe TV app in the Play store and sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Setting up an Android TV device

If you haven't already set up your Android TV device, follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to complete the installation.

Make sure you're at home, and connected to the Internet account that is on the same bill as your TV service.

 

Installing the Fibe TV app on your Android TV

  1. Using your Android TV remote, navigate to the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for the "Fibe TV App" and then select Install.
  3. The Fibe TV app will now appear on the home screen of your Android TV device, under the My Apps section. Launch it.
  4. Sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Setting up the Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition or higher

If you haven't already set up your Fire TV Stick Basic Edition or higher, follow the instructions on how to complete the installation.

Make sure you're at home and connected to the Internet account that is on the same bill as your TV service.

Installing the Fibe TV app on your Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition or higher

  1. On the Amazon Fire TV home screen, search for "Fibe".
  2. Scroll down and select the Fibe TV app. Select Get to download the app.
  3. The Fibe TV app will now appear on the home screen of your Fire TV Stick, under the My Apps section. Launch it.
  4. Sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Setting up Chromecast™

If you haven't already set up your Chromecast™, follow the instructions on how to complete the installation.

Make sure you're at home and connected to the Internet account that is on the same bill as your TV service.

Installing the Fibe TV app on your mobile device

  1. Using your mobile device, open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store application.
  2. Search for the "Fibe TV app" and then select Install.
  3. The Fibe TV app will now appear on the home screen of your mobile device.
  4. Sign in using your MyAccount username and password.

Sharing the app on multiple devices

You can use the Fibe TV app on multiple devices at once. Simply install the app on each tablet or smartphone and enjoy.

Things to remember:

  • When connected to your home Bell MTS Wi-Fi, you can have unlimited devices watching content simultaneously and unlimited devices registered.
  • When not connected to your home Bell MTS Wi-Fi, you can have 3 devices watching content simultaneously and 5 devices registered.
  • You can download a recording on only one device at a time.
  • Once you download a recording, you can no longer watch it on another device with the app, but you still can on your Fibe TV box.
  • Rentals on mobile devices are only available on Android devices.
Using the programming guide

When you open the Fibe TV app, the programming guide will appear, giving you access to a wide range of options.

  • To watch live TV on your device, simply tap a channel logo
  • To see detailed program information, tap a program name to display the Episode info tab

Other functions:

  • View programming up to 14 days in advance
  • Use filters to view specific channels in the guide, such as Subscribed, HD only, Favourites, English only or French only
  • Search the guide based on live TV, series and more
  • Set favourites for quick access to your favourite channels (note: favourites are saved on the device and are not synced with your receiver or other devices).

Please note that the following channels are not available on the Fibe TV app:

  • Accuweather
  • Bloomberg
  • Juicebox
  • TVO Kids
Using the Fibe TV app

You can enjoy all of your content by downloading the Fibe TV app to your mobile device or by visiting fibetv.ca with Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari*. Internet Explorer does not support video playback.

In addition to watching the Fibe TV app on your phone, tablet or computer, you can enjoy content on the following TV streaming devices:

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick Basic Edition or higher
  • Apple TV, 4th generation or higher
  • AirPlay on Apple TV and AirPlay-enabled TVs 
    • Android TV: Sony Android TV, nVIDIA Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box
    • Chromecast

When watching the Fibe TV app on a TV streaming device, different content is available based on your location.

Download and GO for On Demand content

Using Download and Go

With Download and Go, you can use the Fibe TV App to download on-demand shows and movies to your mobile phone or tablet and watch them offline, without being connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile network.

  • You must be subscribed to the channel to be able to download its content (e.g., a Crave subscription is required to download Crave content)
  • This feature is compatible with Apple (operating system version 10.0 or higher) or Android (operating system version 5.0 or higher) smartphones and tablets

Things to note:

  • You can download up to 10 shows or movies per account
  • The same content can be downloaded on multiple devices
  • Downloads expire between 48 hours to 30 days after downloading. You will be notified how much time you have left to enjoy your download in the app
  • You can re-download content once it expires, as long as it's still available in the On Demand section of the app
  • You can only download shows while you're in Canada. Select programming needs to be downloaded while you're at home and connected to your Bell MTS Wi-Fi. Once downloaded, you can watch the shows offline from anywhere
  • If you don't have enough space to download content, you can:
    • Delete older downloads or other files on your device
    • Download to an external SD card (Android only)
    • Reduce the download quality within the app settings
Troubleshooting the Fibe TV app
Issue On a mobile device On Apple TV, Fire TV or Android TV On Chromecast On a computer (Web)
I receive the following error using an Amazon Fire TV Stick:
 

"Connection Error – An unknown error occurred connecting to the Amazon Appstore"

 
  1. Open the Settings menu on your Fire TV Stick.
  2. Select Apps & Notifications.
  3. Select Manage All Applications and choose the Appstore.
  4. Go to Storage > Clear Data > Clear Cache.
  5. Reboot your device.
   
I experience errors while playing content and playback doesn't resume.
  1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
  2. Try playing another show.
  3. Close the app fully and make sure it is not running in the background.
  4. Turn your phone or tablet off and then on.

Please note that when watching the Fibe TV app on a TV streaming device, different content is available depending on your location.

  1. Make sure that both your mobile device and Chromecast are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Try playing another show.
  3. Downloaded shows cannot be cast. Try casting a live, on demand or recorded show.
  4. Disable parental controls. They are not supported when casting content.
  5. Try casting from a different mobile device.
  6. Try unplugging your Chromecast™ and then plugging it back in.


 

Please note that when watching the Fibe TV app on a TV streaming device, different content is available depending on your location.

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
  2. Use Safari, Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer and Edge are not supported.
  3. Try playing another show.
  4. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  5. Close your browser and open it again.
"To watch live TV, you must be connected to your Bell MTS home Internet, where availability permits. Streaming on this device may incur Internet usage charges."

"To cast content you must be subscribed and connected to your main Bell MTS Internet account."

  You can watch Live television with the Fibe TV app on Apple, Chromecast™, Amazon and Android devices only from home. You must be connected to the Bell MTS Internet account that is associated with your Fibe TV account. You can watch on-demand content on TV devices with any Internet connection.
