Why does Bell MTS use the Wi-Fi 802.11g wireless standard?

The 802.11g Wi-Fi standard is so widely accepted that it has become the industry standard for wireless networking. IEEE 802.11g is an established and mature standard. In fact, many laptop manufacturers actually include Wi-Fi cards in standard configurations.

Do I need to load software or change settings on my laptop?

There is no need to load additional software as long as you have an operating system, web browser, 802.11g (or faster) wireless card. However, you may need to adjust your hardware settings.

Can I connect to my company's network?

If your company allows remote access then you will be able to connect to the network. As an extra security measure, many companies use VPNs. The Wi-Fi Hotspot network is generally compatible with this software.

I am a Bell MTS customer, how do I login at a Bell MTS Wi-Fi Hotspot?

Bell MTS HSI Customer

  1. Bell MTS HSI customers automatically log in to Bell MTS Wi-Fi Hotspots once they have used their Wi-Fi at home.
  2. If you are not immediately recognized by the Wi-Fi hotspot and require additional log in select:
  3. "With your Bell MTS Login ID"
  4. Enter your full Bell MTS Login ID. (example: user@res1.mts.net). If you don't know the Bell MTS login ID used for your Internet connection please call us at 204 225-5687.
  5. Enter your Password
  6. Click on "Connect"
  7. Once logged in, you will be automatically remembered and will not have to re-log in as long as you remain a Bell MTS HSI customer.

Bell Mobility Customers

  • How to connect:
  • Open Wi-Fi Setting on the mobile device
  • Select #Bell MTS Wi-Fi
  • *When prompted, enter mobile number
  • A text message (SMS) will be sent with a valid PIN
  • Use the PIN to connect to the #Bell MTS Wi-Fi
  • Validity of Auto-Connect to any Bell MTS Hotspots
  • Bell customers will be automatically connected to any Bell MTS Hotspot locations for maximum of 30 days from the previous registration.
  • After 30 days, they need to re-register again.
