Smartphone Wi-Fi Programming Instructions - Nokia C6

These instructions apply to Nokia C6 smartphones only. You must insert an active Bell MTS HSPA SIM card with a valid data plan into your phone.

Tip:

If you receive a failed authentication message such as "Failed to authenticate against the network" then you are probably not authorized to use this service or the service is not available at this time.

Not in Wi-Fi Coverage Area

These instructions assume that the phone is not within the range of an access point that is broadcasting an Bell MTS Wireless SSID. Please ensure the phone is registered on the network.

Perform these steps:

  1. Launch Menu, select Settings.
  2. Select Connectivity, select Destinations, select Access Point.
  3. When prompted with "Automatically check available access point?", Tap No.
  4. Select Wi-Fi (from available access points list).
  5. Enter Bell MTS Wireless as Wi-Fi Network name and select OK (this value is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown).
  6. Select Infrastructure (public) Network mode/status.
  7. Select WPA/WPA2 security mode, select EAP mode.
  8. Select Internet (The message: "New access point for 'Internet' added" displays briefly and then disappears).
  9. Select Internet.
  10. If "Bell MTS Wireless" is not at the top of the list with priority set to 1, highlight "Bell MTS Wireless" and tap Options, otherwise skip to step 14.
  11. Select Organize, select Change priority.
  12. Select the Wi-Fi network that currently has Priority 1.
  13. Tap OK (this should set Bell MTS Wireless to priority 1).
  14. Select Bell MTS Wireless, select Wi-Fi security settings.
  15. Ensure WPA/WPA2 is set to EAP.
  16. Select EAP Plug-in settings (ensure EAP-SIM and EAP-AKA are selected), tap Back.
  17. Tap WPA2 only mode to turn it On.
  18. Press End/Power button or tap Back 7 times (to exit to the home screen).
  19. When the phone is within Wi-Fi coverage, launch Web application to begin surfing phone will automatically connect to Wi-Fi network.
In Wi-Fi Coverage Area

These instructions assume that the phone is within the coverage of an access point broadcasting an Bell MTS Wireless SSID. Please ensure the phone is registered on the network.

Perform these steps:

  1. Launch Menu, select Settings.
  2. Select Connectivity, select Destinations, select Access Point.
  3. When prompted with "Automatically check available access point?" select Yes.
  4. Select Wi-Fi (from available access points list), select Bell MTS Wireless.
  5. Select Internet (The message: "New access point for 'Internet' added" will briefly display then disappear).
  6. Select Internet.
  7. If "Bell MTS Wireless" is not at the top of the list with priority set to 1, highlight "Bell MTS Wireless" and tap Options otherwise skip to step 11.
  8. Select Organize, select Change priority.
  9. Select the Wi-Fi network that currently has Priority 1.
  10. Tap OK (this should set Bell MTS Wireless to priority 1).
  11. Select Bell MTS Wireless, select Wi-Fi security settings.
  12. Ensure WPA/WPA2 is set to EAP.
  13. Select EAP Plug-in settings (ensure EAP-SIM and EAP-AKA are selected).
  14. Tap Back, tap WPA2 only mode to turn it On.
  15. Tap Back 4 times (to go back to Connectivity menu).
  16. Select Wi-Fi, select Bell MTS Wireless.
  17. Select Connect (The message "Connecting via 'Bell MTS Wireless'" displays briefly; upon successful connection, the status changes to 'Connected').
  18. Press End/Power button or tap Back, Back, Exit, Exit (to exit to the home screen).
  19. Launch Web application to begin surfing.
