Understanding Device Notifications

How will I receive Notifications?

Notifications are sent via text message (at no charge) direct to your wireless device. If you are an Account Holder, but do not have a Bell MTS wireless device, notifications may be sent via email to the address provided to one of our service representatives. If you wish to update your phone number or email address please Contact Us.

When will I receive Notifications?

Notifications are sent via text message to advise of data use at both the user and account level. Notification will be provided in the identified instances. Please note that not all may be relevant to you.

User Level Notifications while in Canada

  • When you have used 100% of the Manitoba Data included in your plan.
  • When you have used 50% of the Canadian Data included in your plan.
  • When you have used 100% of the Canadian Data included in your plan.
  • When you have used 100% of the tethered Data included in your plan.
  • When your account has reached $50 of Data overage charges.
  • When you have authorized additional use greater than $50 of overage charges.

Note:

If you make a change to your Wireless service during your bill cycle, these Data notifications may not be accurate due to proration of your services. When making changes to your Wireless service, please ask your Bell MTS representative to explain your usage allowance and be aware of usage for the remainder of your bill cycle.

User Level Notification while Roaming Outside of Canada

  • When you begin roaming, including roaming rates for your location.
  • When you attempt to use Data on your device, providing a link to purchase a Data Pass.
  • When you purchase a Data Pass as a confirmation.
  • When you have used 50% of your Data Pass.
  • When you have used 100% of your Data Pass.

Account Holders

If you are an Account Holder you will also receive notifications to advise of the below activities occurring on your account. These notifications will be provided via text message, or email where a phone number is not available.

  • When your account has reached $50 of Data overage charges.
  • When you have authorized additional data use greater than $50 of overage charges.
  • When a user on your account has entered a roaming area, including roaming rates for that location.
  • When a Travel Pass has been purchased by a user on your account, including the cost.
Is there a cost to receiving Notifications?

No, notifications do not cost you anything to receive, nor will they show up on your bill.

Can I opt out of receiving Notifications?

Only select notifications can be opted out of. Contact Us to review your options and update your account.
