How do I turn on roaming data?

When travelling outside of Canada and data roaming is turned on, you will be presented with options to purchase Data Passes when starting a data session. You will not be able to use data unless you have purchased one of these passes or are using Wi-Fi. You can review our Data Passes on our Travel Plans page. If you do not want to use data, you can choose to not purchase a Data Pass or you can turn off your roaming data.

  • Connecting to the web through a local Wi-Fi hotspot.

iPhone - How to Turn On Data

BlackBerry - How to Turn On Data
  1. Select Options > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network.
  2. Under Data Services change While Roaming to On.
  3. Press Return Key.
Android - How to Turn On Data
  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under Wireless and Network tap More Settings.
  3. Under Networks tap Mobile Networks.
  4. Ensure the Data Roaming checkbox is checked.
  5. Press the Home or Back button to exit.

These steps outline how to correctly turn on data roaming on an Android device. The steps may vary by model, please refer to your device manual for more detailed instructions.

Windows Phone - How to Turn On Data
  1. Swipe left to access applications list.
  2. Tap Settings > Cellular.
  3. Under Data Roaming Options change to Roam.
  4. Press the Home or Back button to exit.
