Connect your computer to your home network

Windows 10
  1. Click on the Network icon in the bottom right hand corner.

    • Icons change based on network status.

    or

  2. Click the desired network in the Wi-Fi list.

  3. Click Connect.

    • Connect automatically is checked by default, click in the box to uncheck if you do not want connection to auto-connect.

  4. Enter your Wireless Network Key (passphrase).

  5. Click Next.

    Note:

    Click and hold the "eye" to temporarily reveal the key.

  6. Select the Network Sharing Option you prefer (Yes is normal for home networks).

  7. If successful, you will be returned to the Connect To screen showing the selected wireless connection as Connected.

  8. System Tray Icon will now display.

Windows 8
  1. From the Main Screen, click on the Desktop icon.

  2. Click on the Network icon on the bottom right hand corner of the task bar.

    Note:

    Icon changes based on network status.

  3. Once the Networks screen appears, click on your home network.

  4. Click on the Connect Automatically checkbox, and click Connect.

  5. Enter your Wireless Network Key (Passphrase), and click Next.

  6. To make your computer or laptop accessible to the other wired or wireless devices on your home network, choose Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices.

You will be returned to the Connect To screen where your wireless connection will show as Connected.

The Wireless Connection will also be shown as active on the Desktop and Settings screen.

Windows 7
  1. Click on the Network icon on the bottom right hand corner of the task bar.

    Note:

    Make sure Wireless is enabled on your laptop. See owner’s manual for instructions.

  2. Locate and click on your home network.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Type in your Wireless Network Key (Passphrase), and click OK.

Your computer or laptop will now try to connect to your wireless home network.

If the Wireless Network Key or Passphrase was typed incorrectly, you may get this screen. You will then need to type in the correct Wireless Network Key or Passphrase and click OK.

If your Wireless Network Key or Passphrase was successful, you will see Connected displayed next to your Wireless network.

The Wireless Connection will also be shown as active on the Taskbar.

You are now connected to your Wireless Home Network.

Windows XP
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network Connections.
  4. Click the wireless network connection icon.
  5. Click View available wireless networks.
  6. Choose the wireless network from the list that appears, and then click Connect.
  7. Type in your Wireless Network Key (Passphrase), and click Connect.

Your computer or laptop will now try to connect to your wireless home network.

Mac OS 10.7 Lion to 10.11 El Capitan
  1. From the Home Screen, click the Apple icon at the top left hand side of the screen.
  2. Click the System Preferences link.

  3. In the System Preferences, click on the Network icon.

  4. Click on Wi-Fi in the left hand menu.

  5. If Status: Off, click on Turn Wi-Fi On.

  6. The Wi-Fi status will now show as ON. Make sure to also enable the Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar option.

  7. Click on the Network Name drop down menu.

  8. Click Join Other Network.

  9. Click Show Networks.

  10. Select your Home Network, and click Join.

  11. Enter your Password (Wireless Network Key or passphrase).
  12. Check the box Remember this network and click Join.

You are now connected to your home network. The Wireless Connection will also be shown as active in the top right hand corner of the home screen.
